Poppies have been one of my favorite subjects to paint for a long time. When I first painted them, they were wild and a bit chaotic. As I continued my poppy studies, my poppy paintings became more refined. I’ve been missing the messy adventure of new discovery and worked on reawakening the curiosity and surprise in this latest poppy work. They feel spirited to me, without boundaries and preconceived notions. Sometimes it’s good to shake things up, break through paradigms and preconceived ideas and to question things we are certain of.
