Here We are Again
48” x 72” x 3” acrylic on wood panel
I started this painting, around this time last year. It was a sketch on panel when Hurricane Helene struck. My studio and gallery, like so many others, were lost with most of what was in them. Some lovely people recovered this sketched panel with the hope that I could finish the painting, but, the panel was damaged by the flood waters and the graphite sketch was brushing off. I photographed the sketches and recreated the painting as best as I could. It just so happens that I’m finishing it a couple of days before the anniversary of Hurricane Helene.
Goldfinches on a red maple tree. Goldfinches and red maple trees have a symbiotic relationship. Goldfinches eat the seeds, the young buds and drink the sap from maple trees. In return, they disperse the seeds of the tree.
