A barn owl in flight. The owl makes eye contact imploring the viewer to recognize her sentience and innate value. Barn owls and other animals have value completely independent of any worth humans assign them. Even so, barn owls perform essential services that benefit humans. They keep rodent populations in balance, protecting our crops and reducing incidences of rodent borne diseases in areas where they’re active. Let’s show these amazing creatures the respect they deserve. Slow, pesticide sickened rodents are an easy target and lead to painful deaths for owls and other predators. Please don’t use rodenticides.
