A charm of hummingbirds converging on a vine of (Lonicera ciliosa) orange honeysuckle. More than 7000 plants rely specifically on hummingbirds for pollination. Hummingbirds and certain species of plants have evolved together so much so that the shape of the flower and the shape of the hummingbird’s beak fit specifically together to facilitate pollination and the gathering of nectar. What a beautiful way to cooperate. The hummingbird is the smallest bird and the only bird that can hover and fly backwards. They have the largest heart proportionately of any bird. These little wonders of nature are enchanting and charming.
