Part of a new series I just can’t stop thinking about, that focuses on species and their many relationships. This painting focuses on cardinals and some of the species they interact with. Service berry are a favorite of the cardinal, tiger swallowtail butterflies and bumblebees not only help to pollinate plants that feed cardinals, they are also an important source of protein for cardinals. Cardinals also eat dogwood blooms, berries and fruits and help to pollinate the tree by spreading its pollen. Sunflowers and echinacea flowers provide hearty seeds for cardinals. Interaction in nature are endless and fascinating.
